  1. Synced and Saved Blocks

    Improvement

When you hover over a block you'll see the Save icon. This allows you to "save" the block to reuse later.

Saved blocks appear here on your left toolbar.

    image

When you save a block now you're presented with a new modal and options to save your block as "Standard" or "Synced"

Let me explain what the difference is:

    Standard

These blocks can be dragged back into the editor, updated and re-used time and time again. Any changes you make to that block do not update or change the saved block or impact any other newsletter.

    Synced

If you save a synced block, you have the ability to make changes to that block and it will update in every email you've used this block. For example if you've used the "Menu" block and added your menu links in. If you decide you want to change the Menu links, instead of updating each email, you can just changed that one synced block and it will update everywhere.

If you want to edit a synced block, drag it into the editor, click on it and you'll see the options on the right hand side. You can edit the synced block which is the "master version" or you can change it back to a standard block which means you can edit it without impacting any other block on email.

  2. Collision Detection

    New Feature

Accidentally users would leave 2 browsers open with the editor and do updates in one window and leave the other one open. This causes problems as Mailerly auto-saves and it cannot distinguish which session it should honour.

We've now added Collision Detection so if you try and open the same email at the same time in another window you'll get a warning.

  3. Templates

    Improvement

We've made a few changes on the templates section.

Templates are designs you've created that you save and can re-use for new emails. They're simply a quick starting point. When you create a new email from a template, the template stays intact. You're simply making a copy of a pre-built layout and editing it.

Previously there was a lot of confusion whether you were editing the template or editing the actual newsletter you want to send out.

    We've made it simple now.

What you'll see when you click "My Templates" on the left side as a grid of all your templates. In the below example there's only one.

    Use_Templates3

When you hover over a template you can either preview it or "use it". When you click "use it" you're creating a copy which will appear in "your emails" section.

    Use_Templates2

If you click Preview, you'll see this layout. If you want to use the template as your email design, click "use template"

  4. History - go back in time...

    New Feature

There's nothing more annoying than going ten steps ahead and then you realise you preferred what you done previously!

We now have a "history" feature which keeps a list of previous steps you made changes to in your design. Click the icon in the editor and you'll be taken to your history screen.

In this screen you can do 3 things

    1. Revert back to previous version by selecting the version from the left panel and then clicking "Restore this version" on the top right
    2. Rename versions so it's easy to remember in case you want to go back later
    3. Create a new email from a previous version. This way the design you're working on stays intact and you can work on the restored version independently

    New Feature

Now every time you select a colour you will see a tints panel. This allows you to extend your designs with different shades without breaking your brand style. Infinite possibilities for layouts and colours now with this new addition.

  8. Stacking on mobile

    New Feature

You now have more control over how images are displayed on mobile on blocks that have columns.

  9. No more missing links in your email!

    New Feature

If you're using a block that has a button, it's easy to forget to add a URL in the excitement of creating your email. If you send your email out without active links, users will land on a dead page which isn't great. We now have a notification widget which will show at the bottom of the screen whenever you have a block with a button without a URL added. When you click the link notification, it will take you directly to the block with the missing link

  10. More image control

    Improvement

Lots of great changes to the image module!

Previously you could only upload an image which took up the full width. With the newest updates you can resize images, adjust the spacing around and change the background colour.
